Well-dressed starts with the basics…

As a busy business owning, homeschooling mom of 4, I need staple items in my wardrobe. I know I could just throw on a sweatshirt and call it good, but here’s the truth: getting up, getting dressed and getting ready for each day is GOOD FOR MY MENTAL HEALTH! So pretty much every day of the week except for occasional sl.ooow and lazy Sundays, I at least like to FEEL like I look put-together (even if I’m simply tackling teaching the 4 yr old how to write her name).

My top 3 (ok maybe 5) STAPLE wardrobe items for fall/winter are:

OK, I know…I know… a LOT of women have a love/hate relationship with jeans. But, when you have the right pair, jeans are a quintessential part of EVERY wardrobe.

My favorite denim is @LuLaRoe denim. This denim is expertly crafted with innovative fabric technology — from the perfect blend of cotton, polyester, viscose, and Lycra©, LuLaRoe Denim is worthy of you! Featuring a superior super stretch fit with unreal recovery, unbelievable softness, exclusive Slimming Panels, and a Magic Waistband, ensure that every pair will look amazing every wear. Ladies, whether you grab a pair of LuLaRoe denim or your favorite Judy Blues… Denim goes with EVERYTHING!

What I love about denim – premium —skinny cut, skinny bootcut, and skinny ankle cut, or distressed, is that you can easily dress denim up or down.

If I haven’t convinced you, yet…stick around because I’m going to show you a few other ways to style denim. I am positive finding the right pair will make you feel confident in what you wear.

A Cozy Sweater

There are so many options when it comes to sweaters, and I don’t think you can really go wrong. My personal favorites are tunic style sweaters and pull-overs but a soft zip-up also works wonders. Throw a tunic sweater on over a pair of denim or leggings, add some earrings and a necklace and you have an easy day-to-night look. Plus – it’s comfortable and pairs perfectly with a mess of kids or coffee with a girlfriend.

Here are a few of my favorite options:

The Lauren is a sweater tunic with raglan sleeves that have cable knit design. She has rib-knit binding at the neckband, cuffs and bottom hem. She has 2 1/2 inch side slits with a boxy, but true-to-size fit. She comes in chenille and faux cashmere fabric.

The Mariah Sweater Top is ribbed at the neck with a bottom hem, sleeve cuffs, and drop shoulders. She’s relaxed throughout, with a fitted waist band and comes in chenille and Faux Cashmere fabric.

The Kristen Cowl Neck Pullover is a dream as a layering piece or on its own for those who want to show off a little midriff! Kristen is made of thermal hacci fabric… which, in a nutshell means super soft and warm and has a waffle pattern like a thermal top! It  sports a double layer cowl neck, dolman sleeves, and raw edge seems throughout with a decorative back panel sleeve. If you want to feel like you’re wrapped in coziness, this is the top for you!

And for my nursing mamas, this is the top for you! The fabric drapes in the front allowing easy access for feeding your little one!

Boots and Booties

I feel like this fall staple is a no-brainer. A good pair of black boots and booties go with just about every outfit in your closet. You can easily pair them with denim, skirts, leggings, and dresses. I find that as a mom, I have a hard time wearing heels. Some of that also comes from years of ankle injuries. So I either wear a flat boot from Target or my favorite booties from @TOMS that have a comfortable wedge heel.

Do you have a favorite boot or bootie? I think every closet needs black, brown and a pair with some color just for fun.
